Skinny jeans boosted sales during the recession, but that novelty has worn off and women's premium denim sales have been sliding in the last year. Flared styles from designer brands like True Religion and J Brand may help to spur demand for expensive jeans and offset record cotton prices. Flares are already outselling skinny jeans this spring after the style showed up on runways last year.
